Honor Flight Network™ is a non-profit organization created for the sole purpose of thanking and honoring America’s veterans for all their sacrifices by flying our heroes to Washington, DC to visit and to reflect at their memorials. Honor Flight Network™ first took off in May 2005, with six small planes flying twelve WWII veterans from Springfield, Ohio to Washington, DC. In 2006, with a waiting list of veterans expanding rapidly, Honor Flight Network™ transitioned to utilizing commercial airline carriers to accommodate the maximum number of veterans possible. HonorAir in Hendersonville, North Carolina and Hero Flight in Provo, Utah then joined forces, creating the current Honor Flight Network™.
Honor Flight Network KC does whatever it takes to fulfill the dreams of veterans. Most importantly, our heroes travel absolutely free. Top priority is given to the senior veterans; WWII survivors, along with those veterans that may be terminally ill. Volunteers pay their own expense and assist the veterans on the Honor
