In 2008, as a Hospital Corpsman in Afghanistan, I stepped on an IED that was meant to take out a HUMV. Although it took my left leg, nearly my right, and I had to endure 34 major operations. I was able to came home. I saw both sides of healthcare, one as a provider, and the other as a receiver of care. I battled my demons during my recovery, and ultimately found God again. It was through all of this that I Founded Wings For Warriors Foundation, Co-Founded Taylor & Lawrence, and have been Keynote Speaking my story - "From the battlefield to the boardroom", "Triumph over Trauma", and "Adapt and Overcome". Thousands and thousands of people have been moved by my story. Everyone has a story to tell, and my story is ultimately about the journey of life, and how to overcome obstacles along the way. I'm considered to be a "hometown hero", and others label me a national public figure or an advocate of some sort. I'm just a guy from Phoenix, AZ. that knows a thing or two about veterans and healthcare, and do what I can to make a difference in the world for them, as well as their families. I'm happily married with 4 children and love what I do for a living.
